SSH Anyone

When I left my house I was able to SSH into my Linux box from windows on my lanİ

Now I am in California and cannot connectİ Bad thing is, all I get is Exit status 0

I am using igally ssh on windowsİ

I can connect to my Linux system in South Texasİ

Anybody using thisİ

I do have portsentry running on the one at home and not on the one in Texasİ

I am also thinking /etc/hostsİdeny is ALL:ALL and /etc/hostsİallow is ALL:LOCAL

Guess it's one or both of these problemsİ

Which version of ssh?
Who are you trying to log in as?
Which crypt schema are you using?
Are you firewalled on your dev_world interface?
Have you tried PuTTY? (Google search "PuTTY ssh")

IMHO PuTTY rocks, although I haven't tried anything else (been too happy to change).

One more question - do you really trust the machine you are loggin in from?

Your connection is being denied. The ALL:ALL in /etc/hosts.deny is the culprit as well as only allowing ALL:localhost. Unless you can get into another box on your network, or the machine itself, your pretty much screwed.

scruwd

I think that's the way I left it, and was not sure. Expected conection refused but this is just as bad. Oh well, have to put it right when I get home. Don't think I want to talk my ole lady through reconfigure. LOL

Other post:

Igally ssh for windows.
User and root.
blowfish
Trusted computer: win 2000 pro laptop.

Igally works great and saves your login scripts for multi hosts.
Easy setup for local and remote port redirects. supports many ciphers. Easy key generation.
Easy setup of remote multi hosts, etc.

I had this exact same problem with a server we are using as a squid proxy.
It has two network cards in it (not sure if this makes a difference), and I had to specifically put in a ListenAddress IP line before it would work.

I'm kinda having the same problem at home. I can connect via my lan, but not over adsl, although I only have one NIC.
i'm going to try the same thing tonight.

hope this helps,

Problem solved now, of course I had to get home to do it.

I guess will leave it open so I don't forget again.
