Unhappy Roadrunner----as if anyone is suprised

OK, here is the deal. I have Mandrake 8.0, Window$ 98 and RR, 98 has no problem is connectivity to RR but Linux is sporatic. It seems as if it keeps dropping off and reconnecting, I can get a few packets of data, then it will hang up and/ or stall depending on the program. I have configured eth0 to the IRQ that my REALTEK 8029 (AS) is on in my BIOS but I still get the same problem. I had Mandrake 7.1 installed earlier this year on my laptop with the same effect so I've pretty much eliminated it being soley a hardware problem. It could be the keyboard/ mouse actuator (ME) but I'm fairly certain that it is on the RR end of things. At this time RR does not support Linux so I'm needing help from the vast wealth of knowledge here. Please help.

I wish I could tell you that information. I have even searched through all of my installed packages and can't find that information. If you know how to get it please pass it along.

I suppose I am using the default on supplied by Mandrake 8.0

While trying to find fixes for my RoadRunner/Linux woes I came across a post on CNET that may be helpful to others (wasn't for me, but my problem is different).

Anyhoo, a person using Road Runner with Linux and Win noticed that WIN is fast while Linux is slow. During his troubleshooting spree he saw that his downloads/ browsing would freeze up in Linux UNLESS he kept his mouse moving....it sounds odd, but there is an explanation. His mouse is USB and it was conflicting with the NIC. He moved the slot that his NIC was in (physically moved it to another PCI slot in the computer) and resolved his problem.. wierd huh?

I tried applying a fix similar to his by disabling my USB in the BIOS but that didn't solve my problem.

If nothing else I hope that this information may help some one else.
