I am setting up an ftp server (proftpd) to allow anonymous access, but I need to allow the users to access directories which are outside of the chrooted environment. I've researched the best ways to do this and discussed it with some others already and the best option I could find given my setup is to setup a loopback mount through NFS- export the filesystems to my local machine and then mount them in a directory inside the chrooted environment, creating a sort of symlink to these filesystems. This sounds like a kludge to me- I think I remember seeing somewhere that I can use autofs to automount a filesystem I already have mounted. I have looked far and wide for information on this, and I have found that AMD appears to be able to do this by using a filesystem type of link (-fstype=link). How would I do this through autofs? I am already using autofs to mount several remote filesystems so I would prefer to use it instead of AMD. Any ideas?
