Cool

I use a computer with the following specifications,

Mother board –TX98 with VIA chipset
Processor -Cyrix M-II 300PR
Graphics adapter- SiS 6215
Sound card -Avance Logic (ASL- 100)
Modem –PCTEL HSP 33.6 kbps(ISAPNP/PCT2880)internal(ISA slot)
Operating systems –Windows 95/98 and Linux Mandrake 6.1

My problem is with the modem. It works perfectly with Windows, but not with Linux. I got pctel.zip file downloaded from the web and tried with that. I made ttyS15 using setserial command and tried to install pctel.o using ‘insmod’ command. I have carefully read the thread from Cragstar, bjc, Jeremy etc. and tried all the steps several times. I tried it with Redhat Linux 6.0 also. Can anyone tell me that whether I am using the correct driver or not? Otherwise give some light to install the modem.

I am not sure that the modem will work with ISA modems. You need to look at the Linmodem How-to (at http://www.linuxdoc.org) to see if you can get the modem recognised through their method. The threads which you have read are mostly to do with the PCI slot modems. Have a read of the document to see if you can follow what you have to do for ISA's

You can download the PCTel driver here http://kbob.penguinpowered.com/~nick/pctel/.

i think should be the same. However, i have tried the link that you posted but it doesn't work. error 404. Any other link do you have?

Is it the modem same with HSP 336 Deluxe PNP Modem under PC Tel?
