As you may have guessed this is a Linux forum, Solaris isn't Linux.
Anyway do you have a x86 system or a Sun Microsystem.
I ask this becuase many third party CD-ROM drives use 1024 or 2048-byte sectors, which causes the SCSI driver to see a "data overrun" on Sun systems.
If you have solaris 2.8 "i.e Solars 8" on a PC x86 then you'll need to know the device name of the CDrom in order to mount it.
Read the man page for rrmount "a solaris removable mount utility"
