Question

I know you can use ctrl-alt-+ or - to change the resolution in X but what does it mean when that does not happen??? I do have other resolutions setup in my XF86Config and my video card can support them. I am using the + and - from the numberpad as well as the actual characters from the top of the keyboard (if that matters). Any clues?

I have tried the ctrl-alt +- thing but it has never worked for me. My understanding of it was that it would move up or down the resolutions set in the XF86Config file. However, whether there is a setting to enable it or not I don't know.
