Question Mandrake 7.0 - 8 freeze at ide detect and partiion

Hello, I am running a shuttle HOT-603 MoBo, AMD k6-2 450, 192 megs of ram, I am trying to install Mandrake linux 7.0 or above on a samsung 3.2 meg hd, every time i try to install it locks freezes at the format or partion, I tried using partition magic but then it freezes while it installs or does not detect the HD, I can install Corel linux, Storm linux and red hat 7 with no problem, I dont believe its the drive because i took the drive to a friends house and installed Mandrake 8 with no proble, that system was 32megs ran and 180mhz, if you have an answer of why it will not install on my system please respond. TIA
Timothy
