Hi, great web site.

After having setup Redhat 6 I go into the terminal window and as instructions I have download I try to install a new kernal 2.2.5, I type in cd /usr/src/linux
the make Xconfig
I then use my cursor to add what I want then I save and type in Make dep, make clean, make bxImage and on the second time make zdisk

Make modules
Make modules_install

but on both occasions I get at the veru end of the process *** [_dir_drivers]error 2 with a bunch of other errors before that one.

I am wanting to try and change my video settings and everything but it just does not seem to work, I have even tried to use the make config but the same.

Will it be easier to change from Redhat 6 to Dedian, or SuSe

Please Help

What video settings are you trying to change?, it is possible you won't need to recompile the kernel to do what you want to do.

As jtshaw, you probably don't have to recompile the kernel to address your video configuration. As far as the make goes, are you certain you have all the files from the kernel? Also, when you did your original install, did you install all the C++ libraries?
