I need help installing and configuring apache for use on a LAN,..no internet. I don't know anything about apache so if you could be a detailed as possible that would help.

ps. If you are just going to point to the linux.com HOW-TO's please don't bother,...they are un-resourcefull in the detailed process I need. Thanks in advance

What kind setup do you have?

Is the linux box connected to the internet and you only want users on the inside of your LAN to see it, not the public? Or is it sitting on the LAN not connected to the internet at all?

If it's the first then I think you should have a look at the firewall stuff (ipchains etc). If it's the second it work's the same on a LAN as it does when placed on the internet, it serves up web pages to whoever asks for them.

What sort of details are you after? I don't know that much at all. It installs using a RPM file, I alter the root path using linuxconf and away it goes.

it is a redhat 7.1 box.

basically I want only LAN users to see it. in my hosts.allow I have already blocked out everything that is not 192.168.1.

This box will not have internet at all,...strictly LAN

wouldn't that be in .htaccess, im not sure, just a guess...
