Question is this possible???

hi all

first I would just like to say !!!this site rocks!!!

i have ONLY 1 computer and 1 linux OS

i would like to setup

email server

web proxy server

ftp proxy server

router

but the more i read the more i see that each item should be on its OWN computer for mostly security reasons

however i dont have that much hareware

what i really want to know is what services/programs could i put on this one machine that i have and if i configure it properly it will be fine (within reason) security wise

are there any howtos that might cover what services work with each other

You could easily run all those services on one box running a linux distro. About the security thing, all boxes are insecure in some way. I would say read up about security issues with your distrobution and services that you want to run and monitor your system. Nothing is secured to perfection, but it will be a lot more secure to avoid an attack of some kind. You dont need seperate computers to run each service. (and anyway wouldn't that be very expensive??). For some how-to's you can go to...

Ok

I have a lot of reading to do. So I can put everything on the one machine and set it up as a PDC and as long as its configured properly it will be fine...

Thanks

I'm Confused...

Ok It is possible and practical, but...

Why do you need all these servers if you only have 1 computer. Just would like to know.
