I recently burnt the iso file POWERTOOLS properly to a disk and when i went to mnt/cdrom, i couldn't install anything and it says i do not have my CD-ROM mounted!!! What do i do???

open a console if you are using a GUI and type:
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
That's it.
If your fstab provides the format that the CD is created with, you can even drop one of the parameters and it will get the missing one from there.
To unmount it type
umount /dev/cdrom

BTW, I hate people that keep saying it, but if that was the problem then you should RTFM

It's worth noting that helloworld's solution assumes that your distro has a link in /dev/ that points to the correct device for your CDROM. If it doesn't then you will need to use the relevant /dev/hdX or /dev/scdX depending where your CDROM is located (i.e. primary master (hda), primary slave (hdb), secondary master (hdc), secondary slave (hdd), first SCSI cdrom (scd0) etc)
