Has anyone tried QNX? Could they install any bloody software?

I subscribe to a PC magazine in England, and they have recently featured 2 versions of QNX on their cover DVDs, v4 and v6. With v4 they included a 'repository' of software (including Quake2), and I can't figure out how to install the bloody stuff! QNX v6 (which was included about 3 months later) doesn't come with any software, and still has the same stupid install thingy.

It appears to be similar to RPMDrake, but won't install a bloody thing! I'm not running it at the moment as I can't see the point in having an OS that doesn't run anything other than the bloody calculator!

Any advice/help/empathy would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

If your that desperate to use QNX then you may want to download the sofware from the QNX website??

I have known that some CD's off mags are completely pointless, and seeing as you pay for the CD as well I think you should at least get some software off it.

BTW, which mag was it?

'Twas PC Plus.

A little story of my adventures with OSs:
I originally got into Linux because I couldn't burn CDs from within Windows. I tried it to see if GoCombust (or whatever it's called) would work. It didn't, so I thought 'Hey! Since I'm on a roll of trying different OSs, lets give this QNX a go'. I installed it, found that nothing else would install, so got rid of it again!

The only reason that I'm thinking about it agin is that I thought I'd try something more adventurous. Since QNX is a UN*X bases OS aswell, I thought I'd try 'porting' something to it. Just for my own amusement, not for any real gain! Haven't got very far as I still can't install any software. It's not a vital thing - I'm sure I could be doing some Uni coursework or something . Cheers though.
