buying distro's online...

I've heard of places that you can buy distro's of linux online. I was just wondering if anybody has tryed this or know of any sites. I can't just go download it because of my 56k connection. Or is buying at a store like bestbuy or a computer store better to do? Thanks...

Well, a download with dial up would take a long time. You could probably go buy it, install it, have a web server running on it with your own domain name before it was half complete probably. You could get it free though, http://www.freelinuxcd.org OR even buy cheaper copies from like http://www.linuxmall.com or where ever.

If you are really new to Linux, go to a retail store and buy a boxed distro. It will get you up and running faster and you get that instant gratification of having it in your hand immediately. It will cost more in a retail store but the manuals you get in the box will be worth the cost. Once you get a feel for it, then check out the other online resources mentioned earlier.
