The 2.4.1 kernel has just been released and reiserfs is now officially in. I will most likely be upgrading this machine to 2.4.1 in the very near future. Anyone install it yet? If you would like to download it the mirrors are ftp.two-digit-countrycode.kernel.org.

Yes, I tried to install 2.4.1, but the modules won't load. The config process, and the make dep, and make bzImage all went fine, even the make modules and make modules_install completed with out any errors.

The kernel boots, but sound and eth0 doesn't work, so I'm suck with 2.2.16 until I can figure out what happened.

When you did the configure did you make sure to include the drivers for your NIC and sound card? Do you get any errors?

I think that answered my question.

Did you compile as modules or just include them in the kernel? Also make sure you are root when you 'make modules_install'.

I'm pretty sure that I compiled them as modules, but I'll make sure to check that after I update some packages and rebuild the kernel.

There are some drivers renamed. But most of it is described in the Documentation directories. Search around a bit there.
