HP Scanjet 5300c

Does anyone know if the HP 5300c scanner is supported in linux or BSD? The xsane project lists it in niether the supported or unsupported lists?

there's a good chance that it will. the suse site say's that
the 5100c and the 5200c are supported, so unless they did quite a bit of modifications (other than changing the color and button layout etc.) than the driver for the 5200c should work.

is this a usb scanner? if so, this is what i've found at mostang.com

This scanner is actually made by Avision and uses the Avision SCSI command set over the USB bus. This scanner works with the latest USB kernel driver and the Avision SANE backend. Getting this scanner to work properly can be tricky and is not for the faint hearted. In addition on some systems it causes hangs of the scanner, and/or complete system hangs.
