Does anyone know if a Celeron 566 is compatable with a Asus P2-99 motherboard. The motherboard is slot 1 and the chip is socket 7 so I have got an adapter but when I boot up the machine it beeps a couple times and then doesnt initialize.

I used to know a good compatability forum for Asus motherboards but I lost the bookmark. If anyone knows a good site to check out let me know.

Thanks

On a side note(just to swell your chests), I was surprised to here the other day on business talk radio news and the local TV news that one of the headlines was the "Long awaited release of the Linux 2.4 kernel". The cool thing about this is I live in Redmond, WA(Microsoft HQ)

According to the ASUS site that board "Supports Intel Pentium III 450MHz~500MHz CPU and CeleronTM 266MHz and above CPU".

If your looking for a Hardware forum you wont get much better than http://www.pcmech.com

They have loads of members who know practically all types of hardware (no joke!), and they have always swelled me with answers, well, apart from when I post in their Alternative OS forum.
