Angry Problems With Network Card


OK

this is continuing from a previous thread
ive tried numerous things but SUSE linux cant detect my card (DMR's instructions and some others)

if i type "depmod -a" i get this msg

"unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.2.16/pcmcia/mpsuni_cs.o"


????

I have a NETGEAR FAST FA311 eth card

help plz!

I take it this is a relatively new card? Seeing as you're running the 2.2.16 kernel, which is over a year old, perahps a kernel update would help? I'm not making any guarantees, but I've had experience with this type of thing and a kernel upgrade did the trick. Just a thought.

2.2.19 is the latest 2.2 kernel, and 2.4.5 is the latest stable 2.4 version.

Thanks for the tip: so which kernel do u recommend? yes i am running 2.2.16. and how do i go about upgrading? is it just a question of downloading and compiling ?

Well, it depends on your hardware. 2.4.x offers a lot of new features, whereas 2.2.x is tried and true. You can try both really. Get them from
