My system details are :
CPU = Celeron -500
H/Disk = Two Partition (7. GB and 2Gb)
OS = Win-98 (FAT32)

I want to use win-98 as well as LINUX. I can devote 2GB partition for Linux . will it work ? Else what I need to do

Yeah, it'll work.

You'll want to erase the 2GB partition to make way for your Linux partitions. Follow the installation destructions to setup LILO (the LInux LOader) on your HDD's MBR (master boot record) and you can setup a prompt at boot time where you can choose either Linux or Windows. You might want to look at http://www.linuxdocs.org for details about various Linux related stuff. Especially http://linuxdocs.org/HOWTOs/Installa...WTO/index.html

As for what else you need - nothing; apart from a distribution to install.

HTH

You can erase your existing partition using fdisk under DOS or Linux (during the install phase). I'd advise you do it under DOS before starting the install. As for installation instructions - RTFM!! Use the links I posted above, they'll describe the general process. The exact process will be dependent on which distribution you use. Its normally just a case of boot from the CD then answer the questions.

Liz, if you want to format a hard drive, you'll need a bootable diskette with the format command on it. If you created a windows emergency disk, then you're all set. If not, no problem. Just click on the Start button. Next, Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs-Startup Disk and then click the Create disk buttom. Then all you have to do is insert the disk and reboot. When its finished rebooting, you'll be at a dos prompt and ready to enter commands to format that hard drive.
