I'm not having much success configuring X Windows and don't know what I'm doing wrong!?! I've partitioned my harddrive, and am dual booting with Windows. But I've installed SuSE Linux 7.1 about 30 times now and xf86config won't work. I've now tried Mandrake 4 times (tonight alone) and am at my wits end. PC detail are:
what error messages are you getting?
Do you get an X window with the install,or text mode?
also there are several threads in this forum, on this subject that might be helpful.
Probably tried this,but:
Before you try to reinstall anything, try hitting control+alt>backspace to restart xserver. If you're at least getting bash, try running DrakX from root.
Like I said,you probably tried those things,but it's worth a shot if you have'nt.HTH

Rep:
have you got the drivers from nividia ? there website has some drivers for their cards for linux. maybe that will solve things for you. use the default svga to start with then get their drivers and follow the install instructions to get it to work.
hopefully that will work
