I ran into a problem with DrakConf. I updated some packages and thus had to update gilb-libs and gtk+. After doing this I got a message when I try to start DrakConf.
Anybody else run into this problem? I will post the actual error below:
Xlib: connection to "0:0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0
This is by going into konsole thru kdesu so I am root and get that. When
I try to run it as user this is what I get:
Can't locate warnings/register.pm in @INC (tells me what INC contains) at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/vars.pm line 11
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0/vars.pm line 11.
Compilation fialed in require at /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0/Getopt/Long.pm line
38.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0/Getopt/Long.pm
line 38.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/X11R6/bin/DrakConf.pm line 8.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/X11R6/bin/DrakConf.pm line 8.
Only thing I did was add the xfce window manager and update those two libraries. Any thoughts how to fix
it?
BTW, DrakConf has a menu with all the Mandrake utilities for setting up X, mouse, etc.... It isn't something that is terribly important since I can access everything separately but I just want to learn how to fix something like this. Thanks in advance.

Rep:
It is possible that something happened to your X security settings. What is the output of the following 2 commands?
1) xauth list
2) xhost
Also, is it correct that this only happens with DrakConf (ie. all other X programs work fine)? My guess is that you have access control enabled, but no one in the access control list. If this is the case only the user who started X can access X. Since DrakConf is trying to run as root and you started X as you it is failing. Try typing "xhost localhost" and see what happens.
hehehe, I did try that Jeremy (wow I guess I am learning some) but couldn't access it even when logged in as root. I decide to blow it all out and reinstall linux but I did it differently by making all package choices and selecting which kernel to use. I am very pleased with the results and my system is running better than ever with all the options I want. Thanks for the help though. I'm still trying to get access to a print server but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, I won't let it beat me.
