Hi Folks,
How does Apache talk to Tomcat? I mean what is the protocol it uses to communicate with tomcat? Is is HTTP or any specially written protocol using TCP/IP?
I went through the Tomcat-Apache Howto and it talks in length about the mod_jk & mod_jserv adapters but did not specify what protocol is used.
Please help guys! I really need to know this to make an important decision on web site design. I have mentioned why Iam interesting in know this in the postscript if it may interest you.

Thanks a million
Prowzen

ps:
Ok here is the scenario... My web server sits in the Demilitarized zone(outside the firewall) and my tomcat runs inside the firewall(LAN). My firewall permits only certain protocols to pass through. So I need to know what protocol Apache uses to communicate with Tomcat.
