Installation problems: licq & OpenSSL

Let me preface this by saying I am running a fresh install of RH7.1. It's pretty much as is right out of the installation.

I downloaded the licq rpm from licq.com, and tried to install it using Gnome RPM. Licq requires, among other things, OpenSSL 0.9.5 or greater. I have OpenSSL 0.9.6-3. Licq states it cannot find libcrypto.so.O nor can it find libssl.so.O. When I query the OpenSSL package, I see libcrypto.so.0.9.6 and libssl.so.0.9.6. Did these two filenames get changed somewhere along the way? Is licq looking for the wrong filenames? Should I choose to ignore this error when installing licq from rpm?

did you find the specific files that it wants? These are libcrypto.so.o and libssl.so.o ?

If the system does not have these files(I'd assume they *should* be in /lib or /usr/lib) then you can very easily make symbolic links to your existing files, the format is:

# ln -s <path to file you HAVE> <path to file you NEED>

In your case, from the directory that has libcrypto.so.0.9.6:

# ln -s libcrypto.so.0.9.6 libcrypto.so.o

Good luck.
