Question

rh61 with a netgear fa310. i've confused the system and wanted to start over.

nic seems to be recognized (boot msgs display MAC, irq, ...)

ping said "network unreachable"

route add -net said "SIOCADDRT: Network is down"

ifconfig eth0 up said "SIOCSIFFLAGS: Resource temporarily unavailable"

been thru the ethernet and net HOWTOs and such to some benefit. but nothing talks to network up or down.

questions:
a) this sound familiar? an easier answer?
b) i was thinking to let the rh autodetect take care of correcting it. is this reasonable?
c) how to apply b) to the problem?
d) how to display the actual state of eth0 (ifconfig eth0 shows information but not up/down...)

thanks much!
