Question

Can I change my files system from Ext2 to ReiserFS without distroying any data or having to do a complete OS install?

Haven't seen any nondestructive conversion programs yet, but here is what I did. For this example I will use home. Other partitions would be a little different.

1) Copy contents of /home to free space
2) Make sure all non-root users are logged off and nothing is accessing home.
3) Unmount home.
4) Reformat the partition as reiserfs.
5) Remount and copy everything back.

Don't forget to edit your /etc/fstab and replace ext2 with reiserfs for /home.
