I have a hitachi cdr-3600 in a sun-moon-star external cdrom casing and can't get it recognized in SuSe 7.1
can anyone help
( yes the cdrom is working under dos with the hitachi driver)

The only thing I can think of is look at the support for non-ATAPI/IDE CDR's when recompiling a new kernel.
This beast is kinda old, I havent noticed any support for it...
