Exclamation

Greetings. I just installed Red Hat 7.0 on a Dell Inspiron 8000. After configuring the pcmcia-cs package, I performed a "shutdown -r now" to reboot the kernel. When the system rebooted, the GUI interface (Gnome) did not load. Every 10-15 seconds I get the following error displayed on my terminal...
"gdm_slave_windows_kill_ioerror_handler. Fatal X error"

I have attempted to kill and kill -9 (as root ;-o)the gdm processes currently running, but with no luck. Can anyone help this newbie out? Thanks

reboot "linux single", open /etc/inittab and change initdefault from 5 to 3 for CLI login, save, quit, reboot. this wont fix it but at least u can login & use the box.

-try changing from gdm to xdm
-try starting x after deleting the .Xauthority file.
-look in /var/log/messages & dmesg for a clue.
-remember if u changed anything else, networking, libraries, could be overlooked easily eg small stuff.
