Question


I need to now how i should partition a harddrive 15gig when iam installing RH 7.0 for security sircumstances?.The server is going to be a Webserver (Apache,FTP,SQL).

The partitioning of the system won't make a whole world of difference to your security in these circumstances.

The only advice I would have (generally) is to ensure that the directories that Apache and your ftpd log to are seperate to your OS and home directories, and probably worth giving your SQL server is own chunk too. That way masses of logging from Apache won't cause your SQL server to run out of space of its tables and visa-versa.

You should also make /tmp and /var seperate partitions. This will prevent attacks that just keep writing to files from filling up your disk.
