Hi ya all,

Right my server is Redhat 7.0. I want to run a telnet server on it. But when I installed the rpm I still cannot telnet into my server from ANY machine. The only way I can run the Telnet Server is by using the command "in.telnet -debug".

Any ideas anyone ???????

The samba question is, can i restrict samba access to eth0. The reason being is I have a cable modem in eth1, which is always under attack by people on the web who think my server is a NT server (they always try logging in with administrator as the user name)

Is this possible ???????

Thanks in advance

Ignore Telnet question just fixed it.

It was switched off in the /etc/xinetd/telnet
and
/etc/hosts.allow & /etc/hosts.deny were mucked up

You can make Samba only listen on specific interfaces using a line something like this in your smb.conf fil
interfaces = 192.168.1.2/24

You probably want to look into ipchain/iptables though, you will more than likely have a lot more tham Samba to worry about people abusing.

HTH
