Unhappy

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and the Linux world. However, having bought a copy of LinuxFormat and getting Mandrake 7.2, I'm a converted and ethusiastic Linux biggot !

A new Netfinity server happened to pass my way and I decided to set-up Mandrake for our office server and have managed to get 80% (I hope) of the way there.

The problem I'm having is that I'm poking and prodding to get one service up but am breaking others without realizing it.

Any advice on the order to tackle setting this machine up as :

1 - Email server
2 - Web Server
3 - Samba file / print server
4 - Firewall

What I'm hoping for is someone with experience who can say get x going properly and then leave it alone and move onto y etc.

Right now I've get everything installed and configured, but nothing working 100%

If this is the wrong place, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Justin Webb

The order you have them listed in is probably the best order to do them in.

Jeremy's right, but don't put it on a network with external IP access, until that firewall is up.
Or someone will have fun with Samba.

Cool

Great, thanks for that. The order I put them down in wasn't a conscious choice, but having struggled for the last few weeks I guess the brain jumped automagically decided on an order.

I'm glad it's more or less right !

Thanks for the quick advice.
