I (almost) have a computer and I want to run linux on it for 2 reasons: 1) its free [heh always the best reason right?] and 2) I need to learn Linux / Unix at some point anyway. but.......
I have been tryin to find some newbie docs on the internet (or even some books that I could buy) but I found nothing that gives me info from the ground up. I get just past the intro and it starts into some talk about stuff that I dont know what it is.... and then, if im lucky, the word / phrase that I dont know about might have a link next to it for a definition. but that never helps, because the definition cant define it in simple terms.... instead it uses a bunch more words that I have no clue as to the meaning thereof. and when I go look those up.... well, you get the picture.
What I need is something that will explain Linux to me, and does not assume that I know anything beyond what using a GUI would teach me.
Any links to free internet docs, ridiculously expensive books, or general advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thx in advance.
