Question

Has anyone been able to get the fa 311 to work under suse? I have little experience with modules and compiling from source code and am not sure what I need to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I can help you. I'm Using Red Hat 7, and I had a lot of trouble getting my fa311 card working. I wouldn't bother calling NetGear's support because they tried to help, but they don't know much. NetGear does offer device drivers for the card on their webpage, but I'm not sure if the offer it for Suse. Netgear finally came out wit h drivers for redhat 7, which made it easy. I'm not sure, but it might work with suse, maybe it would be worth giving them a call to find that out.
