I have tried reinstalling linux a few times, but keep getting this message:
***

Partition Check:
hdc: [PTBL] [823/32/63] hdc1 hdc2 <hdc5 hdc6>
RAM DISK: Compressed image found at block 0
autodecting RAID arrays
autorun...
...autorun DONE
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe-s-k block-major-3,errno=2
VFS: Cannot open root device 03:05
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:05

***
It halts there. Im just wondering if anyone knows what this error message refers to. (ie if I need to replace something, what do i replace.)

Thank you in advance for your help
-Andrew

I hope you created a boot disk, you will need it to check your file system, sounds to me your root filesystem is corrupt or something. If you don't have a boot disk, you can goto, http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/sys...1.7.218.tar.gz to download Tom's Root/Boot disk so you can do a disaster recovery.
Might also be a good idea to go read about the boot process howto at http://www.linuxdoc.org.

Its either that or a reinstall.
