Thumbs up

I'm running Mandrake 8.0, and everything else seems to be doing allright, but the dern mouse settings wont let me change from PS/2 standard to wheel mouse, a regular microsoft wheel intellimouse being the one I have. Whenever I change the setting from standard to wheel the screen seems to indicate that the change was successful, but alas the wheel does not work in any program, and when I go back, the settings do not truly appear to have changed. The mouse was configured fine before a clean install recently, so I dont know what it's deal is.

Thanks.

Might need different drivers for it.

which XFree86 are you using?

if it is 4.0.x then go to /etc/X11 and edit the config file there (xfree.conf or something like that). there are a host of sections pertaining to video card, monitor settings and there is a section for input devices. there will be the keyboard bit then below this shold be the mouse bit.

the line you need to change is the one that says

'protocol="ps/2"'

change the ps/2 to imps/2

this should get it to use the microsift driver for intellimouses on the ps/2 port.

if you use 3.3.6 then the config file will probably be in /usr/X11/lib or something like that

hope that helps

Alex
