Question

I am using Netscape 4.75, Opera 5, and konquerer and they all have their drawbacks! Opera is the fastest by far, but I don't know how to use plug-ins and java. Any opinions out there on which one is best?

i use netscape 4.76 and mozilla.

netscape 4.7x is bloated and kind of slow but it renders the pages well and has full plugin support.

netscape 6, don't bother. it is based on mozilla's milestone 18 beta release and is flaky and unstable.

mozilla is at 0.9 and is very useable, but not many plugin's yet. hopefully mozilla 1.0 (which should be released in the next few months) will come bundled with more.

i used opera for about a month then dumped it. but that was a while ago. i'll have to try their latest release, it's bound to be better than before.

i find myself using netscape the most.

I have Mandrake 8.0 installed, and I've installed Netscape 4.77, Mozilla 0.8, and Opera 5.

I had to add plugins to Netscape, Mozilla, and Opera. I find Opera to be the fastest and most stable. However on IE/Netscape designed pages it has some problems sometimes.

I haven't settled on one just yet, but I think I'll settle on Opera once I get the plugins for Netscape 4.77 put into it...

HTH,

i'm sure thats the site's bad code more than a problem with opera. opera and mozilla are sticking to the w3c html standard and a lot of sites still use propritary tags that are ignored by the browser, which throws the page layout and rendering off.

Its kind of like "Which sucks the least?"

They all have some real issues and its a shame. It seems that some real effort is being put into the Mozilla and Opera projects, but they just haven't succeeded that great yet.

I hate to say it, but I wish there was an IE for Linux.
