I do not know what my monitor is. When I'm installing linux(redhat 6.2) I don't know what to choose as a compatable. If I pick the Probed monitor, I am stuck with 8-bit 640x480 and can't do anything about it. Any ideas?
You might want to look on the back, sometimes they have the specs on the back, or maybe a model number/brand name of some sort.
Best thing to do is keep trying different configurations, have you tried the VGA or SVGA compatible type drivers? Or generic monitor settings?
not exactly an useful suggestion but it may be if you are like me
Whatever you do, don't mess with XF86Config directly, at least not without taking a backup of it somewhere. I can vouch for that. For more info have a look at my signature...
