Unhappy

hi guys

1. i have now re-installed MDK7.2 afresh, and get a 'LI' at bootup. my boot partition is /dev/hda1, fortunately i have a boot disk ready. how do i solve this one?

2. the automount feature is a complete failure. the whole point of having it is so i don;t need to type 'mount blah blah' then 'umount blah' when i'm done, but it fails to recognise when the disk is removed. just had to get that off my chest.

3. kde starts by defualt, how do i change this? (imnsho kde is another great failure, bugged as win95 and slower still) can anyone recommend a more streamlined window manager?

replies to my email address please - jinn1400@yahoo.co.uk
almost there, hopefully next time i'll be posting from my own machine, provided i get pppd working
thanks again for all the help :-)

1) the "LI" is a common problem. It's a LILO installation problem. boot from the diskette and open /etc/lilo.conf in your favorite text editor. search for a line wich says "boot=/dev/hda1" or something alike and change it to "boot=/dev/hda". run /sbin/lilo to install the LILO bootloader correctly

2) hmmm can't anwser this...

3) try blackbox or fluxbox, those two are really lightweight
