Question

When I last logged in as root, I received a message saying “you have new mail”??????
How is this possible since my machine is not connected to any network, nor is it configured for any mail??????????
How can I read this “new mail”?

some daemon errors like those from cron may have error output directed to the mail address of root.
from the commandline run "pine" itsa mail client.

Dunno about other Distros but when you do a fresh Slackware install root always has mail containing details of the linux counter project and some notes from the guy who produces Slackware - Patrick Volkerding.
