Does anyone know a good satellite provider that is Linux compatable. All the ones I see want you to have Window$, I saw one advertised once and have tried to find it again and can't. I live so far out in the boonies that satellite is the only broad band option I have.

When you say Linux compatible do you mean will support your Linux system? The ISP that I get my cable modem from doesn't support or install to Linux only Winbows hence I had to do the change myself once the engineer left but it works just fine.

Just a though.

I don't know what the difference between Supported and compatible is. What I want is to plugg my machine into the satillite modem and have it work. When I look at the different vendors system requirements they all say they require windows. I haven't found one yet that is Linux or Mac friendly.

I guess the questions to ask would be:
  1. Does it reqiure any special software custom protocols to be installed?
  2. Does any support or configuration require a certain browser or mail client?
  3. How does your computer connect to the vendor's hardware? Ethernet, proprietary hardware?
I had the @Home people and the DSL provider both tell me that the system would only work on Windows9x or Mac. Both have been hooked up to the linux ranch for ages...
