Exclamation

I am trying to install rh 7 on my western digital hard drive with two 27.9 gig partitions. When I go to install it an error message comes up and says there is no place to install it. I have never used linux before and I was wondering what the easiest way to work around this is. Any help would be great.

thanks

Exclamation Your outta luck

Unfortunately, both Linux Mandrake 7.2 (and above) and Redhat Linux 7.0 have NO SUPPORT for promise/66 and promise/100 cards yet. I am having your exact same problem. One thing you may want to try to do is connect your hard drive(s) to your motherboard and install linux like that, but you must NOT move the cable back to the promise card or it will cause linux NOT to boot! good luck. tell me if you find a workaround for this as I am having your exact same problem! :-)

I have heard that if you update your kernal that this will work. The kernal that supports UDMA 100 is the 2.4. Beyond this I dont know how to do anything with the kernal or the easiest way to get around our problem.

Try this url

http://www.geocities.com/ender7007

although it's for RH6.2, it works for RH7.0 as well, coz I just installed RH7 into my 30gb ata100 (multiboot) drive by following what that url said.

Good Luck

I'll try

Thank you all for replying. I shall try your suggestions as soon as possible. Even though, I am getting fed up with Linux because i can't get it to work for me. I KNOW I can figure it out eventually. I will try your suggestions in a few minutes and let you all know of my progress. :-)
