Exclamation

I have just started using Linux. I have inadvertantly set the display mode to VGA. I know that there is a way to change it, and that it could involve using the console; however, since I have never used Linux before, I don't know the command. Does anyone know where I can find a list of available commands and their syntax? I have looked, but I have been unsuccessful. Thank you in advance for your help.
Lamar.

If you need to configure X through the console then read this How-to.
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/XFree86-HOWTO/x102.html

If you have a SUSE distro then you may want to use Sax to configure the graphics.

Cool Configuring X

Depending on the distro you are using there are many *easier* graphical X front ends to X configurator. I use Mandrake and therefor I open DrakConf on the desktop and then use the X Configuration Button. This gives me a list of Video cards and monitors to chose from as well as refresh rates if I do not like the default it has set for me and the Resolution and number of colors. This is how to do it in Mandrake. Most distro's have a graphical X Configurator just goto that distro's site and read up on it's tools. Try just Xconfigurator (Note the capitol X) in the konsole. This may be best for you if you have it. Hope this helps. :-)
