I downloaded smoothwall-0.9.8 and burned cd-rom file called 'smoothwall-0.9.8.iso', cd created O.K. and can read it from windows explorer.

My target machine for smoothwall does not have a bootable cd-rom and I am trying to use 'rawrite.exe' to create a boot disk! I get to 'enter source file name' type d:\smoothwall-0.9.8.iso & get error message 'no such file or directory'

I am stumped and would appreciate any advice or dumies guide!

How did you burn this .iso file?

If it's not working for you then you have probably just burned the image to the cd as a file.
The iso image-file isn't browsable, it's an exact digital copy of a cd.
Try using some cd-burning tool that handles .iso files.

I'm a newbie myself...a couple of weeks..but I think I can
help you here...
Sounds like you burned the cd just fine. you can delete the .iso file unless you wish to burn another cd.
On your newly created cd...you should have a "bootdsks" or "kernels" directory (each distribution is a bit different) with image files that rawrite will use to create a bootable floppy. There may be several of these files to choose from, that have different characteristics; like support for ide, or scsi..etc..etc. You may also have to "rawrite" a root floppy also ...
Make sure you have new diskettes. One bad sector will make it useless..after creating them with rawrite...they are linux-formatted and can't be read by
windows or DOS.
In short....the "iso" file was to create your cd only.
the files that rawrite needs should be found on the cd itself. tip: read as much as possible!
