This is different

I just installed Mandrake 7.2 and when i compile the fa311.o from netgear.com using the following:

gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O -m486 -c fa311.c -I/usr/src/linux/include

and then run insmod fa311.o

i get a version error
compiled for 2.2.17-21mdk
using kernel 2.2.17-21mdksecure

for some reason it is not compiling to the kernel in use

why is this. when i run the mdk (non-secure) kernel, the netcard works fine.

what do i need to do to compile it to the secure version?
is the sercure version that much more secure that i need to worry about it? I am running it as a server always on the internet.

Please let me know if anyone has any info..
If you have succesfully compiled fa311.o for 2.2.17-21mdksecure .. please email the file to scotttupeck@crosswinds.net

ps. when using natsemi.c and pci.. there is errors in the compile.. and i recieve unrecognized errors when insmod

You can use insmod -f fa311.o to force loading of the module, even if the versions don't match.
