Hi, I am not having much luck with linux at the moment (see my thread in installation) I have a new query which I was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on as I am still failry new to linux I decided I would upgrade my current kde with kde 2.0.1 using rpms i went to kde's site got the relevent file qt files and kde files (all rpm) now I installed qt no problems i started on kde 2.0.1 got support and libs installed but when i try and install kdebase i get a message saying failed dependencies kdebase requires icons now i assumed that everything I need would have been in the rpms but i guess not and I can not seem to find any help on kdes site regarding this isssue, so I was wondering if anyone here could let me know what i need to do!!!

what is your current kde's version? is it 1.x.x?
If so, remove the old version completely before installing kde 2.0.1.
There is a way to have both the old and the new 2.x kde-version running. For details check kde.org.

Also after you uninstall KDE 1 the order of installation of the RPMs matters. You need to figure out the order or just do something like `rpm -ivh kde*` in the directory where you have the kde rpms (assuming they all start with kde).
