Hi all,

I am trying to install redhat 6.2 on a harddrive I bought (used). It had Windows, but now I want it to be linux. Can someone give me the correct procedure for using fdisk or any other method to format this drive? When I use disk druid to add partitions (such as /, /boot, /swap, etc...) it adds these, but it won't let me proceed any more (the OK button stays static).
Thanks.

Jon

No one else answered,so I'll give a shot - best to use 3 partitions. A small boot partition (I think my book suggested nothing bigger than 16 meg, though maybe smaller), a root partition, and a swap partition. Swap should be around 64 meg. The rest can be root. Make the boot partition bootable. The root partition should be the type that matches Linux file system, and swap should be of type Linux swap.
