Is it USB, parallel, infrared? (just kidding on the infrared hehe)? You can check the http://www.linuxdoc.org site for the howto's on parallel drives, the USB, check out this site, it might have the documentation for USB: http://www.linux-usb.org
it is a external cd-writer connected to the parallel port of my machine and my computer has a scsi hard disk and a scsi cdrom , i do not have any ide devices on my computer the cd writer is connected to the parallel port number 1 (lpt1)and the brand name is hp 7500 series
i went to the site and the details there
are really confusing besides it directed me to some other
site for the parallel port part of the whole deal
so please give me a simpler solution to this problem
or is this as good as it gets :-)
Well, that might be as good as it gets, most of the howto's are or can be confusing, the best thing to do is read it, if they talk about something you don't know about, look it up too like in the man pages or see if they have a howto on it as well. I will see once I get enough time to, to see if I can't find any other resources for you. I personally have never connected a parallel drive like that before so am not a expert on it. Let me see what I can find though, hang in there, we'll get it working for ya.
