Hello,
I am running Redhat 7.0 and have installed Sun's JDK1.3 and am having some problems. When I try to run java or javac it complains that the following lib is missing:

libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2

This lib is not on my box although the following libs are there:

/usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so
/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
/usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.a
/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.a.3

Also when trying to install Iplanet's Fasttrack webserver it complains when I try to run the setup script. It seems to be missing the following lib:

libncurses.so.4

What am I missing here. I installed most all of the packages so wonder what is going on. Which package are the missing libs from?

Thanks for any help.

the first one should be in libstdc++-2.9X, and libncurses should have be included in the package ncurses. can't say for certain, i'm not running redhat. your best bet is to browse your installation disks with your favorite package manager.

Thanks for the response. What is weird is that the libstdc++ lib does not seem to belong to any package. If you run the following command:

rpm -qf libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2

it says that this lib does belong to ANY package. Hmmmm? If so then how does it get there? I pulled it of a buddies box and solved the JDK problem.

Second the libncurses.so.4 that was missing was part of:

ncurses4-5.0-2.i386.rpm

Well, I did not have that one installed. I did have this one installed:

ncurses-5.1-2.i386.rpm

Where is the "backwards" compatibility??
