I have this weird problem with netscape recently.
When I start the browser instead of going to the home page I have selected in preferences, it shows me a Netscape page that is sort of a version page.(Netscape, made by blah blah)
When I click somewhere it goes to the page, but seems to take a while(I dont think its the DNS thats problem).
Thats not so bad.
What is bad is that I have been using it as my mail browser.
I cannot alter entries in my address book. I simply cannot
delete entries I have made.
While in Messenger, if I click on new messages, then click on address book, after selecting an address and clicking
on the "To:" button, the whole program quits. Which someone had mentioned looks like a "core dump", not sure exactly what that means.
Just wondering if something has happened in some hidden file somewhere.
Well first off, the Netscape page your seeing, everyone sees it unless you change that. I forget how to, some configuration file or something to make it stop loading that Netscape page instead of your actual homepage.
The only thing I can suggest doing with the other problem is either try reinstalling Netscape with a newer or same version or try another browser like Mozilla which is much more stable. Or you can try a different email client maybe.
That's just my suggestion though. I will try and get back with how to get rid of the Netscape homepage thing unless someone beats me to it.
Distribution: Redhat v8.0 (soon to be Fedora? or maybe I will just go back to Slackware)

Netscape is a problem regardless of what distro or version of Linux you use. It is really a poor piece of software and has been known to cause problems for quite some time now. Unfortunately, you don't have a lot of alternatives within the Linux arena right now.
It is buggy, well, not with loads of bugs but it has one tiny problem in that it keeps on requesting memory even though it has enough to keep about 10 windows open! Obviously when the memory runs out you get that core dump error.
If you are looking for speed in a browser then you may want to try opera http://www.opera.com . It is the best browser in terms of speen I have used. Mozilla is shaping up to be a good browser, which you may also want to try. The KDE browser konquerer is supposed to be quite good, but I found that is was woefully slow, and some pages wouldn't load properly.
I use a combination of Opera and Mozilla, just because I am greedy! - but ask other what they use for a true advice.
