Recently, I tried to upgrade XFree86 from ver. 3.3.5 to ver. 4.03, but it hasnīt worked since when I run config utility, it didnīt start and crashed instead. It showed some error messages such as, no fonts or graph available... I have downloaded all the files required to perform the upgrade according to the readme files at http://www.xfree86.org.

In brief, I havenīt yet been able to set the new XFree86 up, since the utilities to set it up crash.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks

Oh, yeah, I run it and the installation went well... and I followed the installation procedures and when I tried to set it up by running:

XFree86 -configure

... the utility seems to hang since there is only a grey screen, after 2 o 3 min. it sends me back to the linux prompt and thatīs it.

If I try to run GNOME (startx), it just crashes...

If you need more inputs, I can re-install the whole stuffs again...

Thanks !
