Anytime I try the make command, or make install from bash it returns bash: make command not found. Makes it very difficult to install things (aside from RPM packages). How do I install/activate it to work? What package holds the items needed to use the "make" command?.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'm running Mandrake 8.0 btw.

I think that make should be on the same RPM that the C complier is on. Do you have the C complier installed on your machine. If you don't will not get very far with make. If you do have the compiler then you can get make from gnu.

Get the make source from the following ftp site:
ftp ftp.gnu.org/gnu/make

They solve the chicken and egg problem by providing a shell script to build and install make. Read the readme file.
