How can one machine access other machine's directory

I'm using Suse 7.0, should I supose to change /etc/exports on the machine that will give the directory and add the line

<directory> <machine name><rights(ro,rw,watever)>

and on the other machice I could change the /etc/fstab
this line

<machine name>:<directory> <target directory> <rights>

or simply using

mount <machinename>:<directory> <target directory>

Are you using Suse on both machines? If not, what OS on the other machine, and which direction are you trying to go?

Common is to have second machine have a WinOS (95,98,ME), in which case you access shares with a line like:
mount -t smbfs //Win95Machine/theShare /dev/mountpoint

It's a shade harder with NT or win2K, and who knows about XP...

To share your linux stuff to others, typically you will use something like Samba.
